Training

My name is Rebecca Hodge, welcome to my website, I hope you find it informative and helpful. I became a counsellor as I love helping people, seeing them develop and find healing and freedom. I have experienced counselling personally, so I understand some of how it can feel from a client's perspective.

My counselling approach is Integrative. I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Dip. Couns) BACP Reg. I trained for four years in the following therapeutic approaches:

Person Centred - A therapeutic approach that places significant focus on the client. With a positive belief in human nature that every person has the potential to develop given the right conditions.

Gestalt - An integrative, existential/experiential therapeutic approach. Helping increase awareness of immediate thoughts, feelings, behaviours and ways of relating, with particular focus on the whole form and all parts in relation to each other, within their present experience. With the aim of integration of all disparate parts.

Psychosynthesis - Derived from psychoanalysis, this approach is inclusive of different aspects of humanity, integrating spiritual as well psychological elements. It supports how client’s harmonise various aspects of their personal self in order to develop.

Transactional Analysis (TA) - A widely recognised form of modern psychology, based on the theory that each person has three ego states: parent, adult and child. It can help you to understand how you communicate and function in relationship and how to optimise personal development for better outcomes.

Continued Professional Development

I regularly attend supervision and courses to enhance my personal and professional development. Some of these include; Schizoid Personality Disorder, Attachment, Shame & Separation, Roles Played in Families, Rewind Technique, Internal Family Systems, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Spirituality in Counselling, Suicide Prevention & Risk, Working with Traumatic Memories, Self-Harm, Depression & Anxiety, Bi-Polar, Anger Management, PTSD, Substance Abuse.
